William King was a former member of The Commodores, an American funk/soul band formed in 1968 in Tuskegee, Alabama. King played keyboards and was one of the founding members of the group. He co-wrote many of their hit songs, including "Brick House," "Too Hot ta Trot," and "Lady (You Bring Me Up)." In 1984, King left The Commodores to pursue a solo career and formed his own band, The William King Band. He continues to perform and write music today. The Commodores, without King, continue to tour and perform their classic hits.
